March 2019
Amanda Beavis, Mark Barnes (r) and Graham Newman (l) took part in the Cambridge Half Marathon on 3rd March.
dB planned to raise £1,500 to support two charities on behalf of colleagues: EACH and MND Association. At the time of writing, that figure was nearer to £2000 and still rising!
This is what Amanda said before the race:
“Being the first half marathon for 2/3rds of the team, it’s an exciting achievement for us, and an honour to represent two amazing charities on behalf of our colleagues at dB.
“Are we ready? Probably not. Are we excited? Crazily yes. Will we smash it? Absolutely!
“When we hit mile 10 and everyone says: “Only a park run to go”, we’ll be reminding ourselves of why we’ve sacrificed our warm nights in, weekend lies-in and the skin on our feet, as we’re doing it for two amazing charities close to dB’s heart.”
East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) support families and care for children and young people with life threatening conditions across Cambridgeshire, Essex, Norfolk and Suffolk, being by their side EACH and every step of the way.
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is an uncommon condition that affects the brain and nerves; it causes weakness that gets worse over time, and doesn’t have a clear progressive route or timeframe for deterioration. MND Association provides support in managing symptoms and day to day living, as well as treatment, care and financial support.
Their times? Well here they are:
Amanda Beavis – 2hrs 20min
Mark Barnes – 1hr 52min
Graham Newman – 1 hr 57min
Well done to all who took part or supported them!
