David Bird – Managing Director
David is the Founder and Managing Director of dB Broadcast Limited, and has over 35 years’ experience in the broadcast industry. His exceptional track record of achievement in systems integration has led to strong relationships with both broadcast clients and the leading supplier base.
David has guided dB to the top position among systems integrators in the UK with over 50 full time staff and a loyal team of specialist contractors.
David leads from the front and empowers his team to achieve the company’s client-led goals. This has led to a number of accolades, including a listing in the Sunday Times ‘Top 100 fastest growing technology companies’.
David has created a forward-focused, results-driven company with an exciting future.
Ross Amory – Finance Director
Ross joined dB Broadcast in 2011, and was appointed to the board as Finance Director in 2013.
He is a fellow of the Association of Certified Chartered Accountants and has been a member since 2007.
Ross has worked across a broad range of business sectors, from SMEs to FTSE 250 organisations, which has provided him with considerable experience in leading finance functions, forecasting and planning, financial strategy setting, cash flow management, risk management, internal audit and process improvement and design.
Daniel Hipkin – Commercial Director
Daniel has been with dB Broadcast since 2002, having previously worked in the Audio-Visual and Conference industries, initially taking the role of Proposals Assistant. He has a first-class honours degree from the University of Leeds. Daniel has been responsible for securing many of dB’s competitively tendered key project wins, including the flagship W1 contract for the BBC. More recently, Daniel has taken the commercial lead on major IP-based projects for Bloomberg/SRM and the multi-year ETT project for Eurosport (now Warner Bros. Discovery).
In January 2021, Daniel was appointed dB’s Commercial Director, and now leads the company’s sales, business development and marketing/PR efforts, as well as maintaining close partnerships and collaboration with major industry vendors to maximise the value that dB Broadcast provides for its clients.
Graham Pearl – Operations Director
In 2013, dB Broadcast strengthened its management structure with the appointment of Graham to the board, a decade after his previous employment with the company. His brief was to ensure the effective and efficient running of the Engineering Department, and to assist in the formulation and implementation of the long term business strategy. Having successfully achieved these aims, Graham was appointed Operations Director in January 2021 with responsibilities including the management of Health & Safety matters.
Throughout his broadcast industry career, Graham has successfully delivered high profile projects for major broadcasters such as the BBC. He holds an Electronic and Electrical degree and a business foundation degree from Loughborough University. Graham has a keen interest in staff development, and has designed a training plan to help meet the industry’s ever changing skill and knowledge requirements.
Mike Bryan – Technology Director
Mike gained his degree in Electronic Engineering from the University of Nottingham before joining the BBC. After a long service there, he moved into a senior role at Sat-Comm focusing on the delivery of SNG and OB vehicles. He then followed this with a stint in the events industry managing projects for live music and multimedia corporate events. In his role as Technology Director, Mike is responsible for technology strategy and delivery from conception through to support.
Andy Appleyard – Director of Projects
Andy joined dB in 2024, bringing over two decades of industry experience. He has been a respected colleague and friend of the company for more than 20 years.
He started his career at the BBC, and played a pivotal role in the success of the BBC Scotland Pacific Quay project in 2004. At systems integrator TSL he successfully delivered projects such as Sky News Arabia, QVC Italy, and Channel 4 HD Playout. Returning to the BBC, Andy led the delivery of BBC Cardiff Central Square. He has collaborated with dB Broadcast on the Warner Bros. Discovery AVoIP project for the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, and the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
Since 2022, Andy has been leading the dB Broadcast team responsible for delivering the strategic advisory role at NRK in Norway, as well as supporting wider business opportunities.
